Bobcat Company has announced new, high-capacity pneumatic-tire forklifts for North American customers. The diesel-powered 9-Series’ five models are the D100S-9, D120S-9, D140S-9, D160S-9, and DV160S-9, with maximum load capacities of 22,000 to 36,000 pounds (9,979 to 16,329 kilograms). Bobcat says the heavy-duty forklift trucks excel on many kinds of jobsites such as lumberyards, utility work, steel foundries, shipyards, and ports.

“Bobcat’s new D(V)160 family of diesel pneumatic-tire forklifts were designed for a diverse range of material-handling applications ranging from moving fragile aircraft jet engines to logging or mining,” says Forrest Crawley, senior product specialist, Bobcat Company. “Our industry-leading products are designed with durability, efficiency, and safety in mind.”

    Bobcat 9-Series Specs & Drivetrain

The new 9-Series models are designed for increased control and enhanced reliability, according to the manufacturer. When loaded, the pneumatic-tire lifts provide impressive travel speeds of 18.6 to 22.3 mph (29.9 to 35.9 km/h) and lift speeds of 76.8 to 90.5 feet per minute (23.4 to 27.6 meters per minute). Bobcat says the lifts have one of the tightest turning radiuses in the industry at 167.5 to 201.4 in (4,255 to 5,116 mm).

Each 9-Series Bobcat uses a DL06K diesel engine with 535.2 pounds-foot (725.6 newton-meters) of torque to handle sloping terrain and heavy loads. A shaft-type carriage strengthens each model to allow for wider, longer loads.

The manufacturer redesigned the drivetrain and hydraulic system for high performance with lower fuel costs and component temperatures. The hydraulic variable-speed fan offers an optional reverse feature to clear out debris from the radiator, which also cools the oil in the disc brake units. The oil-cooled brakes have a long lifespan of up to 20,000 hours and are supplemented by an automatic electric parking brake.

Bobcat’s Guardian Stability System (GSS) monitors the 9-Series forklifts’ operation for safety. GSS can automatically reduce travel speed when turning and alert the operator when the forklift is at risk of tipping over.

New Cabin Design For The Bobcat 9 Series

The insulated cabin of the Bobcat 9 Series has an automatic heat and air conditioning system with a low noise rating of 71 dBA. “Equipped with a high-visibility ergonomic cabin, operators are kept comfortable, improving their overall productivity,” says Crawley. “Operators will experience the difference, and business owners will reap the benefits of the Series’ impressive load capabilities, efficiency, and overall lower cost of ownership.”

Bobcat redesigned the floating cab of the 9 Series, which has a fully adjustable suspension seat and a tilting and telescoping steering column. The cab itself also tilts for maintenance, and the rear hood opens wide for easy access to service points.

Visibility is excellent for the operator in all directions with LED lighting and panoramic and rear-view mirrors. Safety options include a rear object and pedestrian detection system, safety lights, and rear- and front-view cameras tied into the 7-in. display mounted on one of the cabin’s A-pillars.
