Freightliner Adds New Mid-Roof Cab Configurations For Cascadia
Freightliner, a division of Daimler Trucks North America, is targeting regional overnight haulers and the bulk haul and flat beds segments with new mid-roof cab configurations for its Cascadia model, which it introduced in September 2016 and has reportedly taken 25,000 orders for since. Announced at the North American Commercial Vehicle Show in Atlanta in late September, the new configurations entail 48-, 60-, and 72-inch mid-roof XT sleeper cabs in both 116- and 126-inch BBC (back of cab) platforms.
Aerodynamic Packages
Each configuration offers the Aero or Aero X aerodynamic packages. Freightliner indicates the Aero X is its most fuel-efficient specification. Freightliner is now taking orders for the new offerings, and delivery is set for January 2018. Customers can customize 10 different day cab and sleeper cab options overall via Freightliner’s Cascadia cab configurator.
In a press release, Mike McHorse, Freightliner Trucks manager of on-highway product marketing, said the mid-roof option will enable more customers operating in different applications to tap into the benefits the new Cascadia makes possible.
Features
Various Cascadia features include a centrally located, service-friendly eVault (or electronic vault) intended to ease troubleshooting of most control units; all-LED-lit interior and exterior lights; driver-designed ergonomic dashboard and display screen with easy-to-read instrument cluster display; integrated Detroit Connect and Detroit Assurance 4.0 fleet management and safety software; enhanced fuel economy vs. previous models; and a Driver Loft option for the 72-inch mid-roof XT configuration that includes a two-seat dinette/work table with opposing seating that folds flat for a Murphy-style bed.
