In this era, there is sometimes just as much emphasis placed on design and driver comfort as there is on power and performance under the hood. Freightliner’s Cascadia is evidence of that. And for Freightliner’s efforts, the Cascadia model recently received a Good Design award from the Chicago Athenaeum. The competition, which takes submissions from all around the world, decided to award Freightliner’s new Cascadia based on all of the thought and care the company put into its most recent design from the dash area to the sleeper cab area and all the space in between.

    Stylish Interior

As you can see in the design sketches from Freightliner, the company wasn’t interested in meeting the status quo, but instead made an effort to essentially introduce luxury to its semi-trucks. There are multiple configurations to choose from, but some of the highlights include dimmable LED lights, plenty of cabinet space and room for appliances, support for up to 26-inch (660-millimeter) television sets, and much more. There’s even an option for either a double bunk bed configuration or one with a Driver’s Loft, which comes with a dinette table. These setups are versatile in that they maximize all available space to offer up comforts not always seen in truck cabs.

    The Total Package

All of the luxurious design that went into the interior and exterior of Freightliner's new Cascadia showcases the company’s attention to detail, but that thoughtfulness also extends to every other aspect of the vehicle. This Class 8 truck offer up to 600 horsepower and 2050 pound-feet (2,779 newton-meters) of torque and has a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 60,600 pounds (27,488 kilograms). It also has connected vehicle services with Detroit Connect, active safety systems with Detroit Assurance, an aerodynamic cab exterior for better fuel efficiency, and many other features that make it both a stylish and powerful on-highway truck.
