Okay, 3-year-old avowed truck enthusiast Joel Jovine is the one who actually performs the unboxing, but Volvo Trucks representatives were on hand to capture the excitement on video. Also in attendance were officials from Guinness World Records to certify that Joel’s unpacking of the Volvo VNL 760 from its gargantuan cardboard packaging was the world’s largest unboxing. The minute-and-a-half-long YouTube video of the unveiling has broken some records of its own, having become Volvo’s most viral North American video ever, with more than 26 million views online. Volvo also managed to get the video playing at Times Square for the New Year’s Eve celebration, significantly raising the profile of the VNL 760 even higher.

What A Modern Truck Looks Like

The new addition to the VNL family of long-haul trucks is the Volvo VNL 760. It’s designed to deliver cross-country, fuel-efficient performance in a comfortable, spacious truck that looks as good as it rides. This model is just a step down from Volvo’s premium VNL 860, which offers an extra 7 inches (178 millimeters) in the sleeper cab, but it’s far from cramped. The VNL 760’s sleeper cab is 70 inches (178 centimeters) deep, there’s a generous 100.2 inches (255 centimeters) of standing headroom in the sleeper cab, and the mattress is 81 inches (206 centimeters) long, ensuring long-haul drivers always feel comfortable and relaxed. And we all know a comfortable driver is a productive driver.

    Powertrain Options

Volvo offers three engine options under that long hood, including a 325- to 425-horsepower Volvo D11, 375- to 500-horsepower Volvo D13, or a Cummins X15, which generates an impressive 400 to 565 horsepower and up to 1,850 pounds-foot (2,508 newton-meters) of torque. Volvo designed its high-tech I-Shift transmission to make the most power possible from every drop of fuel. Volvo also offers specialized powertrains from Cummins, Eaton, and Allison, from a 12-speed I-Shift to a 13- or 14-speed with Crawler Gears. Furthermore, Volvo built the VNL 760 on a solid chassis for a smoother ride and more responsive handling.

    Sleek & Safe

Underneath the VNL 760’s racecar- and speedboat-inspired exterior are a number of both active and passive safety innovations designed to reduce driver fatigue and distraction and make the trucks safer on the road.
