Mack Announces New Updates For Its Mack Granite Medium Heavy Duty Truck

Mack recently announced new updates coming to its Mack Granite Medium Heavy Duty (MHD) truck line. The MHD is a particularly versatile model because it includes the choice of a Class 7 or Class 8 truck in an axle back or axle forward setup with either a 4x2 or 6x4 configuration. In fact, that’s how the MHD got its name, because it can be used for both medium-duty and heavy-duty applications, depending on the configuration.

    Exciting Enhancements

One of the biggest changes coming to the MHD line is a model spec’d out with a Cummins L9 engine with an all-new horsepower rating of 330 horsepower while still delivering up to 1,000 pounds-foot (1,356 newton-meters) of torque. Mack also gave the MHD an under-frame exhaust to open it up to additional configurations; it can, for example, be used as a crane truck, box truck, flatbed, or tanker, among other possibilities.

If you need a truck that’s still powerful without unnecessary extra weight, then you can opt for an MHD in an axle back tractor setup, which gives you some extra maneuverability. There’s also the 4x2 configuration with a shorter wheelbase that can be used as a dump truck but still provide the same high level of maneuverability as the tractor model. It’s clear that from stem to stern, Mack wanted to expand on the MHD’s already impressive versatility to make sure that whether you need a medium-duty or heavy-duty solution, the MHD will deliver.
