Mack Granite Now Has More Ground Clearance For Underbody Scrapers
Having a truck that can be used for multiple purposes, regardless of the season, is definitely not something to take for granted because it will save you money in the long run. The Mack Granite Axle Forward model fits that category in large part because it has more ground clearance in order to make room for underbody scrapers.
At the 2018 World Truck Show in Indianapolis, Indiana, Mack Trucks announced that it now offers a Granite model with a 6-inch (15-centimeter) higher chassis ride height. This not only makes the Mack Granite perfect for use as a snowplow, but it also allows the Granite to be used to grade roads during the warmer months. Mack is touting this feature because it makes it easier to install a plow attachment without negatively affecting other components on the chassis. All of this adds up to more versatility and lower costs.
A Workhorse For Multiple Industries
The Mack Granite series can be used as a workhorse for a wide range of industries. Mack offers the option of either a Mack MP7 or Mack MP8 engine with an mDRIVE HD 14-speed automated manual transmission with creeper gears. Other important features that come standard on the Mack Granite lineup are the Mack ClearTech One Exhaust Aftertreatment System (EATS), which includes a diesel particulate filter, selective catalytic reduction, and diesel exhaust fluid all in one package.
In addition to the actual physical components, the Mack Granite series can also take advantage of Mack’s GuardDog Connect platform. This system brings together multiple technologies to help with remote diagnostics and maintenance planning. GuardDog lives up to its name by being vigilant about the health of a truck, which includes monitoring for potential issues, scheduling any necessary repairs, and insuring that when the truck goes into the shops, the parts will be ready and waiting.
