Peterbilt Has The Floor At WasteExpo 2018
Peterbilt is showing off the versatility of its 220, 520, and 567 refuse trucks at the 50th annual WasteExpo event, which kicked off Monday in Las Vegas and runs through the end of the day today. All of these models, including a fully electric version of the 520, are on display at booth #2123 and illustrate what a great fit Peterbilt trucks are for the refuse market. Whether you need a medium-duty, in-town garbage hauler or one that can hit the highways, Peterbilt has something for you.
“The Model 520 low-cab-forward continues to gain momentum and has quickly become a top choice within the industry for residential and commercial pickup operations,” says Peterbilt Vocational Marketing Manager Tony Sablar. “The Model 567 is popular for roll-off and transfer dump applications with a wide range of power options provided by the PACCAR MX-11 and MX-13 engines. Combined with the Models 348 and 220 for urban environments, Peterbilt has the most durable and versatile products for every operation in the refuse market.”
Under The Hood
Peterbilt designs its trucks to work hard, and that starts between the engine mounts. The 520 and 567 models come equipped with the PACCAR MX-11 engine, which offers up to 430 horsepower and 1,650 pounds-foot (2,237 newton meters) of torque; the engine also has 355/1,250 (1,695) and 440/1,450 (1,966) ratings, which make it a great fit for use in the refuse industry. You can also opt for a Model 567 with an MX-13 engine for some extra power with up to 510 HP and 1,850 pounds-foot (2,508 newton meters) of torque.
The all-electric Peterbilt 520 delivers alternative energy efficiency without sacrificing power. The truck’s Transpower Electric Drive System gives you 400 horsepower and can store 352 kilowatt-hours of energy. It has an operating capacity of up to 80 miles per day and can store 900 cans’ worth of refuse. It’s quiet, reliable, and produces zero emissions.
Green Garbage Collection
Like many kinds of vocational trucks, refuse trucks are typically out on the road every day getting the job done, often in urban environments, so Peterbilt makes sure its trucks are as clean and efficient as possible. The company’s vehicles have been approved as part of the California Air Resources Board’s Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project, including trucks outfitted with the Cummins-Westport L9N and ISX12N natural gas engines, both of which produce near zero emissions.
