Freightliner Celebrates Delivery Of 50,000th New Cascadia
Freightliner delivered its 50,000th new Cascadia truck to Cargo Transporters, a carrier company based in Claremont, North Carolina. Freightliner only started manufacturing the new Cascadia in January 2017, but Cargo Transporters alone has added 128 of them to its fleet. The company currently has more than 550 Freightliner trucks, all of which came from Freightliner’s Cleveland Truck Manufacturing Plant in Cleveland, North Carolina. Both organizations are major employers in the area, with Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) employing over 6,500 people throughout and Cargo Transporters employing more than 700 people in North Carolina.
“A True Partnership”
“For more than 40 years, we’ve had the privilege of purchasing trucks from Freightliner. Knowing that we are getting a superior product and at the same time employing hardworking North Carolinians is very important to us,” says John R. Pope, chairman of Cargo Transporters. “We have a true partnership with Freightliner Trucks and know we can call upon one another when needed.”
A Milestone To Remember
Freightliner attributes the success of its new Cascadia series to Detroit powertrains and the engineering talents of Daimler AG. All of that know-how came together to create an aerodynamic, fuel-efficient truck with the advanced technologies to match, including Detroit Assurance and Detroit Connect, and customers have embraced it.
“Our goal was to develop a truck with our customers in mind and provide them with the very best in fuel efficiency, safety, and driver-focused features,” says Richard Howard, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Daimler Trucks North America. “We want to sincerely thank all of our customers for the continued trust and partnership, and we could have never reached this significant milestone without them.”
