Mack Trucks Brings Home A Silver IDEA Award For Its Anthem Design Work
Mack Trucks received a Silver International Design Excellence Award (IDEA) from the Industrial Designer Society of America (IDSA) for its Anthem line of trucks. The award was presented at the 2018 International Design Conference IDEA event held in New Orleans, Louisiana. “For those of us in this field, being recognized with an IDEA award is among the top honors you can receive,” says Lukas Yates, chief designer – exterior for Mack. “I’m extremely proud of the team effort that helped make the Mack Anthem such a striking statement to the trucking world.”
A Big Win
The IDEA awards started in 1980 and they cover 20 different categories with entries coming from across the globe. Mack’s exterior design is a marriage of form and function where it not only has a striking look, but also provides improved aerodynamics and fuel efficiency. New design elements, including the front bumper, chassis fairings, roof, grille, hood, and air dam, were all built to reduce wind resistance and improve aerodynamics.
