Special Kenworth T680 & W990 Models To Be Featured At Mid-America Trucking Show
Kenworth is bringing several trucks to this year’s Mid-America Trucking Show (MATS), which runs March 28-30 in Louisville, Kentucky, including a special Kenworth T680 model and three W990s that will take part in the 30th annual Paul K. Young (PKY) Truck Beauty Championship.
The “Everyday Heroes” T680 has a 76-inch sleeper cab and features a 485-horsepower PACCAR MX-13 engine, PACCAR 12-speed automated transmission, and PACCAR 40K Tandem rear axles. It first appeared at the National Mall in Washington, D.C., back in January before visiting the American Trucking Associations’ (ATA) Technology and Maintenance annual meeting in mid-March. Once it completes its 5-month tour of bringing awareness to human trafficking, it will be auctioned off on May 17 with all proceeds going to Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT).
Representatives from TAT will also be on-hand at Kenworth’s booth to explain how the nonprofit educates and trains its members to combat human trafficking. “The Mid-America Trucking Show provides an excellent opportunity to generate awareness among owner-operators and truck operators about the important mission and dedicated efforts of Truckers Against Trafficking to end the crime of human trafficking,” says Kurt Swihart, marketing director for Kenworth.
Three Beauties
The three Kenworth W990s competing in the PKY Truck Beauty Championship this year are owned by Eagle Eye Produce from Idaho Falls, Idaho, Justus Truck Lines from Hendersonville, North Carolina, and Taylor Transport from Cartersville, Georgia. This will be the maiden voyage for Eagle Eye Produce’s W990 and as for Justus Truck Lines, the company will hand the keys to its W990 over to long-time driver Larry Staton, who has driven more than 1.5 miles in his tenure. Taylor Transport, which was one of the first companies to get a pre-production model, recently spruced up its W990 with a chrome package specifically for MATS.
