Liquid Stone Concrete Relies On Dependable Kenworth T880 Concrete Trucks For Jobs In The Dallas–Fort Worth Area
Liquid Stone Concrete, a ready-mix concrete specialist based in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, relies on the Kenworth T880 to meet the demands of both small residential and large commercial projects. The company operates six seven-axle T880 concrete mixers with PACCAR MX-11 engines that produce 430 horsepower (320.7 kilowatts) and 1,650 pounds-foot (2,237 newton meters) of torque, and that have GCWRs (gross combination weight ratings) of 80,000 pounds (36,287 kilograms). A seventh T880 is configured as a cement tanker, features the same MX-11 engine, and is used to “transport cement power to one of the company’s plants,” Kenworth says. The company also recently ordered two more T880s from MHC Kenworth – South Fort Worth.
A Great Truck
“The Kenworth T880 has been a dependable truck for us,” says David Karmy, vice president of Liquid Stone Concrete. “As you know, it gets hot down here in Texas in the summer months. With the high temperatures, we’ll start making deliveries early in the morning, and even then, we only have about an hour and a half to complete delivery after filling up the mixer with concrete at the plant. It’s important for us to operate trucks that we know will consistently make on-time deliveries, and so far our Kenworth T880s have been solid for us.”
Kenworth T880S
Liquid Stone Concrete also put in the winning bid for a Kenworth T880S set-forward front axle truck at the 2019 CIM (Concrete Industry Management) Auction, which was held at World of Concrete in Las Vegas, Nevada, on January 23. The truck features a 430-horsepower MX-11 engine and a Con-Tech Manufacturing BridgeKing rear-discharge, bridge-formula mixer body. The purchase amount of $190,000 went to CIM, which gives scholarships to students “pursuing a four-year Bachelor of Science degree in Concrete Management at Middle Tennessee State University, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Texas State University and California State University – Chico,” Kenworth explains.
“The CIM auction provided us a unique opportunity to add a T880S to our fleet,” says Karmy. “Even though the rest of our T880 models feature the set-back axle, we were in a position where we needed to add another truck. By doing so through the CIM auction, we were able to generate a substantial donation to CIM’s program. We began putting the T880S to use in April, and, so far, it has performed well. We expect this truck to also give us many high-performing years.”
