Mack Trucks has two Mack Anthem models, one with a sleeper cab and one with a day cab, on display at this year’s ATA (American Trucking Associations) Management Conference and Exhibition, taking place now through the 9th in San Diego, California. “Our fleet customers’ bottom lines are significantly impacted by the expense associated with fuel, so Mack will be introducing new options to improve fuel efficiency, resulting in a better return on investment,” says Roy Horton, director of product strategy for Mack Trucks. “Further improving the fuel efficiency of our already best-in-class Mack Anthem model makes this truck an even wiser choice for customers.”

    Mack Models On Display

The Anthem with the 70-inch Stand Up Sleeper cab features a Mack MP8-445C engine that produces 445 horsepower (331.8 kilowatts) and 1,860 pounds-foot (2,522 newton-meters) of torque, while the Anthem Day Cab model has a Mack MP7-425E engine that produces 425 horsepower (317 kilowatts) and up to 1,560 pounds-foot (2,115 newton-meters) of torque. Both trucks have Mack mDRIVE 12-speed overdrive transmissions, Mack ClearTech One exhaust aftertreatment systems, and Mack Road Stability Advantage, as well as Bendix Wingman Fusion with front collision warning, adaptive cruise control, and automatic emergency braking.

The sleeper cab model has a Mack FXL12 12,000-pound (5,443-kilogram) front axle and a Mack Maxlite 40EZ 40,000-pound (18,144-kilogram) air suspension. The Anthem Day Cab shares the same front axle, but has a Mack S40 40,000-pound rear axle and Mack AL402 40,000-pound rear suspension.

Mack GuardDog & Over The Air

Both trucks are equipped with the GuardDog telematics system, which monitors the health of the vehicle and sends a notification to Mack’s OneCall Center if it detects an issue. From there, Mack technicians, which the company refers to as “uptime agents,” will offer suggestions for the best course of action, “including scheduling repair time at a dealer and ensuring parts are all in stock.” The Anthems also have access to Mack Over The Air, which lets fleet managers send vehicle parameter setting changes and other updates remotely. Both features are designed to keep trucks on the road and reduce downtime.
