International recently announced several updates coming to its LT and RH Series trucks in 2020. Many of the new features relate to aerodynamics; International says the LT Series will benefit most, with fuel efficiency increasing by as much as 8.2% over 2019 models. New features include enhanced roof fairings, 12-inch (30.5-centimter)-longer day cab extenders and 3-inch (7.6-centimeter)-longer sleeper cab extenders, steering wheel closeouts near the front tires, longer Vidon chassis skirt strips, cab-to-skirt closeouts, a 1-inch-lower bumper valance, and International’s Flow Below 2.0 design.

    Fuel-Efficient Engines

LT Series models will also be available with an updated Cummins X15 engine that will offer a fuel efficiency boost of 2.8% in 2020, International’s own A26 engine will continue to succeed in that area, as well, thanks to its lightweight design.

“As a testament to their positive experience, many early A26 customers are returning to purchase additional LT Series trucks powered by A26 engines,” says Chet Ciesielski, vice president, on-highway business at Navistar. “The A26 engine has logged millions of miles hauling customer products, proving to customers that it is delivering on the company's uptime promise.”

    New Standard Features

International also announced that several other features will now be standard on its on-highway trucks, including predictive cruise control, which will not only included on the 2020 LT Series and RH Series, but also on LoneStar models. This system uses topographical information to manage the truck’s speed to maximize fuel efficiency, and when coupled with an A26 engine, International says it can yield average fuel savings of around 2%. Remote cellular over-the-air updates are also coming to the LT Series and RH Series in 2020 for trucks with A26 engines. This feature allows fleet managers to make engine adjustments on the fly, improving uptime in the process.
