International Debuts Lightweight HV Series Mixer Truck Model At CONEXPO-CON/AGG In Las Vegas
International debuted a new lighter-weight version of its HV Series truck at this year’s CONEXPO-CON/AGG event, which takes place in Las Vegas, Nevada, from March 10-14. The truck features an HV50B mixer package that reduces the overall weight of the vehicle by more than 1,000 pounds (454 kilograms). It can also maintain a gross vehicle weight rating of 66,000 lbs (29,937 kg) even while hauling 9.75 cubic yards (7.45 cubic meters) of concrete. International says the new specification makes it so “customers currently only able to legally carry 9 y3 (6.88 m3) of concrete will be able to increase their revenue by $750 per truck per day.”
Customer-Centric Design
International developed the new HV50B mixer truck spec with customers in mind by reducing weight and increasing payload capacity without sacrificing safety or durability. The truck has the same aluminum bumper as the International HX Series and a lower hood height that improves the driver’s visibility. Other optimizations include mounting the air dryer and fuel water separator on the same bracket to reduce weight and get them out of the way for concrete mixer hydraulics.
Challenge Accepted
“A major concrete producer was excited about our HV series but had some constructive feedback regarding the chassis weight and line of sight for their application,” said Mark Stasell, vice president, vocational truck business, at Navistar. “As with all customer feedback, we took that challenge to heart and wanted to respond to these suggestions. We put together a small, passionate team and got creative from a design standpoint. The result is the HV Series that you see in our booth today. A physical representation of how we do business – with the customer at the center of everything we do. I’m very proud of what our team accomplished with this project and look forward to continuing to optimize our offerings based on the needs of our customers.”
