Zero-Emission, All-Electric Peterbilt Model 220EV Truck Now Available For Order, Deliveries To Start Later In 2020
Peterbilt has begun taking orders for its Model 220EV zero-emission electric truck, both at Peterbilt dealerships and via the company’s SmartSpec sales tool, with deliveries commencing later in the year. Originally introduced at CES in 2019, the Model 220EV is a medium-duty Class 6 or Class 7 vehicle in a cabover configuration that Peterbilt says “delivers superior maneuverability, enhanced visibility, a spacious interior, and ease of serviceability.”
Quick & Quiet
The Model 220EV features an electric motor powered by two battery packs and an onboard charging system. It has a maximum range of 200 miles (322 kilometers) and the battery packs can be fully recharged by a DC fast-charging system in around one or two hours. This makes it well-suited for local and regional distribution. Being all-electric, the Model 220EV is also quiet, both inside and out, which not only makes it ideal for working urban environments, but also more comfortable for the operator.
“Leading The Charge”
“Peterbilt is leading the charge when it comes to commercial vehicle electrification featuring a full line up of EV Models, with over 30 out collecting real-world miles,” says Jason Skoog, general manager of Peterbilt and vice president of PACCAR. “With the addition of the Model 220EV to our SmartSpec sales tool, Peterbilt dealers can easily spec and quote exactly what customers have been asking for in a zero-emission medium-duty truck.”
