The UltraLoft is an 80-inch high-roof sleeper cab that is 200 pounds (90 kilograms) lighter than other Peterbilt sleepers, and it can improve aerodynamics by 2% and fuel efficiency by 1%, as well. There are also several other day cab and sleeper cab options available.
Peterbilt 579s are available with PACCAR MX-11 or MX-13 engines that produce between 335 and 510 horsepower (250 and 380 kilowatts) and from 1,150 to 1,850 pounds-foot (1,559 to 2,508 newton-meters) of torque. It’s also possible to spec a Model 579 with a PACCAR integrated powertrain that includes the engine plus a 12-speed automated transmission with two reverse gears and a 40K rear tandem axle.
