Kenworth Now Offers Bendix’s Electronic Stability Program As An Option On C500 Trucks
Kenworth customers now have the option to spec their C500s with Bendix’s ESP Electronic Stability Program. This feature is part of Bendix’s 6S/6M system, which consists of six sensors and six modulators and also includes Smart ATC Automatic Traction Control.
ESP Particulars
The ESP technology uses sensors that track lateral acceleration as well as steering angle and direction to “help stabilize the vehicle during loss-of-control situations on dry, wet, snow, and ice-covered roadways,” Kenworth explains. It can then automatically adjust engine throttling and truck and trailer braking to maximize stability in varied driving conditions.

Maintaining traction and stability is particularly important for Kenworth C500s as they are designed to tackle the heaviest of duties and support gross combination weight ratings (GCWRs) of up to 500,000 pounds (226,796 kilograms). That includes moving both on- and off-road heavy-haul loads.
The C500 is available with a standard day cab, an extended day cab, a 38-inch AeroCab FlatTop Sleeper, or a 42-inch FlatTop sleeper. Other features include a lighter-weight but more efficient cooling module, aluminum module fins, the option for a fiberglass or sheet metal hood, and the option to spec the C500 in a twin-steer axle configuration.
