Medium-Duty Peterbilt 536 A Perfect Fit For Elder Logistics
Peterbilt refreshed its medium-duty lineups this April, and Elder Logistics was lucky enough to receive the first production model of the new Peterbilt 536 for its time-critical logistics service.
“Medium-duty trucks are the bread and butter of our business, and after seeing the launch of Peterbilt’s New Medium Duty lineup we knew we wanted to add the Model 536 to our fleet,” says Elder Logistics President Scott Elder. “The many advancements Peterbilt has made to these new trucks play perfectly into our company values. Our drivers are looking forward to putting the truck to work.”
New For The 536
The 536’s new design was part of a five-year Peterbilt project based on driver feedback and efforts to develop maximum efficiency and versatility, according to Peterbilt. The end result is a medium-duty truck that Peterbilt says is “purposefully designed for Class 6 applications.” The new cab comfortably fits up to three people at 6.9 feet (2.1 meters) wide, or eight inches wider than the previous 536 model’s. The cab also features a new instrument cluster where drivers can reference the analog speedometer and tachometer, as well as a 7-inch digital display that provides a wide selection of information like collision mitigation notifications. Peterbilt optimizes the 536’s maneuverability with a 51-ft (15.5-m) turning radius. Both the new model 535 and 536 are available in two hood lengths, two roof heights, and with multiple fuel and DEF tank configurations.
Blending Fuel Efficiency & Power
The 536 can be configured with PACCAR PX-7 or PX-9 engines; Elder Logistics' Model 536 features a PX-7 engine and the all-new PACCAR TX-8 transmission, an eight-speed automatic gearbox said to offer 5% fuel savings vs. competitive transmissions.
“They spec’d the perfect configuration for their needs,” says Peterbilt Assistant General Manager, Sales and Marketing, Robert Woodall. “The new features and technology designed into our lineup of new medium-duty trucks will enhance the day-to-day job of their excellent drivers, and we are excited to hear their feedback.”
