Mack Trucks has announced the construction trucks it plans to bring to the World of Concrete 2022 in Las Vegas. The manufacturer will display a Granite mixer truck and a Granite concrete pumper truck at the show, which will be held January 18 to 20 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

“The Mack Granite is one of our top-selling models for good reason,” says Mack Trucks Construction Product Manager Tim Wrinkle. “The Granite features the durability and power to manage the demands of working in the toughest of applications, such as the concrete segment of the industry.”

    Axle Back Macks

The models handpicked for the Mack booth are both Granite Axle Backs with MP7-425M engines that produce 425 horsepower (317 kilowatts) and 1,560 pounds-foot (2,115 newton-meters) of torque. The engines use the Mack ClearTech One exhaust aftertreatment system with a diesel particulate filter (DPF), selective catalytic reduction (SCR), and diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) to meet emissions standards. The pair of trucks also feature 20,000-pound (9,100-kilogram) FXL20 front axles and Mack GuardDog Connect telematics.

The Granite concrete mixer slated for World of Concrete comes fitted with a Con-Tech Extreme Duty Manufacturing body. Inside the cab is a Mack Air high-back driver seat for all-day comfort.

The other Mack Granite has a Putzmeister 39Z-meter concrete boom pump body firmly grafted to its Cornerstone chassis. It is supported by an S440 44,000-lb (19,950-kg) rear axle and a terrain-following Mack Camelback rear suspension.

Mack builds its Granite mixer trucks for operator comfort as well as for power, durability, and reliability. Its Mack Command Steer assist reduces the heavy trucks’ steering effort by up to 85%. And with features such as a return-to-zero that automatically straightens out the wheels after a turn, driver strain is decreased by up to 30%.

For safety, the Granite is available with the Bendix Wingman Fusion 2.0 system with multi-lane automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and more. A peep window in the lower passenger door provides more visibility on a traditional blind spot.

Mack Granite mixers come in Axle Forward and Axle Back configurations, as well as models with tandem steering. Engine options include a 350-HP (261-kW), 9-litre Cummins ISL9; an 11-liter Mack MP7 with up to 425 HP (317 kW) of power; and a 13-liter Mack MP8 with up to 505 HP (377 kW). Mack’s mDRIVE HD automated manual transmissions come in 13-speed creeper and 14-speed extra-low creeper editions.
