John Deere Combines & Cotton Harvesters Recognized For Engineering Excellence
Each year, the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) selects 50 products that advanced the engineering of agricultural, food, or biological systems. And this year, John Deere’s S700 combines and CP690 and CS690 cotton harvesters received the AE50 Award.
Combine Tech
“The John Deere S700 Series Combine was recognized for its significant innovations in ‘smart’ technology, improved operator comfort and data capabilities for more efficient grain harvesting,” Matt Badding, John Deere marketing manager for harvesting equipment, explained in a press release. The S700 series, in particular, can automate adjustment and calibration tasks. For example, the Combine Advisor package uses seven onboard technologies to let you set, optimize, and automate combine performance as crop conditions change.
There are two other big technology additions found on the John Deere S700 Series Combine: Auto Maintain and Active Yield. The former maximizes threshing performance and grain quality, while Active Yield calibrates the mass flow sensor to help accurately collect data during harvest.
Quality Cotton
The CP690 cotton picker and CS690 cotton stripper both integrate moisture and round-module weighing technology. Cotton farmers can look at the real-time data to preserve lint and seed quality. These John Deere cotton harvesting products also feature Cotton Pro, Harvest Identification, and the John Deere Operation Center Field Analyzer. The various tech improvements help to optimize the overall production system, leading to improved yield and profits.
