Featuring a redesigned liquid spray system, a new reload system, and six dry-application system options, the new Challenger TerraGator C Series high-flotation applicators that AGCO introduced at the recent Midwest Ag Industries Expo (MAGIE) 2018 include three “light-treading” three-wheel models and a four-wheel model designed for “flotation and stability.” Challenger is an AGCO company, along with Fendt, GSI, Massey Ferguson, and Valtra.

    Built For Off-Road Driving

The C Series includes the three-wheeled TG7300C, TG8300C, and TG9300C models and the four-wheeled TG8400C. All use AGCO Power engines and include chassis and drive systems AGCO says are built specifically for harsh off-road conditions. Engine power ranges from 332 horsepower (247 kilowatts) to 425 horsepower (317 kilowatts) at 2,100 rpm, with peak power spanning 363 horsepower (270 kilowatts) to 452 horsepower (337 kilowatts) at 1,900 rpm. Compared to previous models, these TerraGator models use 8% less fuel, AGCO says.

As with Challenger’s RoGator C Series row-crop applicators, the TerraGator C Series models include the AccuTerminal touchscreen command center. They also sport an industry-exclusive air-ride cab suspension and enhanced seat suspension. Application rate and section control, meanwhile, come via Raven Viper 4+ technology and other Raven steering and data-transfer products.

    Application Choices

The booms used with the C Series models’ redesigned spray system include a wider inner-boom cross section and structural members, larger boom pins, and improved mid-boom fold and tip breakaway structures. AGCO offers 80-foot (24.4-meter) and 60-/80-foot (18.3-/24.4-meter) fold-over options that cover 82.5 feet (25.1 meters) at 30-inch (76.2-millimeter) nozzle spacing and 85 feet (25.9 meters) with 60-inch (152.4-centimeter) nozzle spacing. Both options are available with seven sections. In addition, the C Series’ boom height is hydraulically adjustable and can be controlled automatically.

The six dry nutrient application system options include the New Leader NL4500 Edge (boundary spread capable), NL5000 (section control capable), AirMax Precision (single bin), AirMax Precision 2 (can apply two or three products simultaneously), Soilection Twin Bin (two bin), and Soilection Four Bin (can variably apply multiple products in a single pass).
