New Holland Agriculture Introduces All-Electric T4 Utility Tractor With Autonomous Features
New Holland Agriculture recently announced a new all-electric utility tractor with autonomous features as part of its 2024 lineup. The manufacturer says its T4 Electric Power is ideal for lower-horsepower field operations in a variety of operations such as mixed farm, hay and forage, dairy, livestock, municipality, greenhouse, and specialty crops. The T4 Electric made its public debut in August at the 2023 Farm Progress Show in Decatur, Illinois, and is expected to be commercially available in early 2024.
A Full Day’s Work With Lunchtime Charge
The battery pack and electric drivetrain offer a maximum energy storage capacity of 110 kilowatt-hours in a 400-volt nominal high-voltage circuit for 55 kilowatts (74 horsepower) of rated power and 48 kW (65 HP) of PTO power. The drivetrain provides silent power with high torque and quick low-speed response. The T4 Electric has four-wheel drive, a 12x12 transmission, a clutchless electronic power shuttle reverser, and the regular power outputs of a diesel utility tractor.
The tractor has a run time of approximately four hours while performing a mix of light, medium, and heavy-duty work but can do up to eight hours of light work. Operators can fully charge it in one hour with a commercially available DC fast charging system. The tractor also has an exportable power feature with 110- and 220-V outlets to allow the tractor to serve as a power source for tools for welding, drilling, and cutting.
The Latest Tech
The T4 Electric is equipped with smart autonomous features and creative driver assistance modes, including Follow Me Mode, Invisible Bucket and 360 Degree Awareness, Over the Air updates, Live View, and Map Maker. Cameras and sensors in the Smart Roof provide information inside the cab on the touchscreen display.
“This tractor is a significant step forward for growers, producers, and municipalities,” says Lena Bioni, product marketing manager for New Holland Agriculture North America. “The T4 Electric Power addresses a number of challenges they are facing every day on their operations. What New Holland is bringing to our farmers is a convergence of technology—electric propulsion, autonomous features, better performance—in the body of a utility tractor that’s setting the stage for a more efficient, sustainable, and resilient future our customers are striving for.”
