SANY Mini Excavators Are The Right Tool For The Job

    Posted On: April 2, 2018

SANY recently launched a pair of mini excavators, the SY16C and SY35U, and customers have begun to sing their praises. These machines are built to operate in those cramped or narrow areas that most worksites tend to have. One application where the SY16C and SY35U are showing their particular strengths is in tunnel construction.

    Tunneling Down Under

An Australian tunnel construction site recently proved the ideal testing ground for SANY’s new mini excavators. The chief builder working the job cited a number of the SY35U’s features that came in handy. The tunnel is a very confined space, making it impossible for the contractor to rely on the kinds of large machines that are commonly used on projects of this scale. But the SY35U not only fits into just about every space they needed a machine to work, but the mini excavator’s zero tail swing design lets the operator maneuver the machine around easily without ever having to worry about colliding with the tunnel’s fragile walls or reversing the machine to get out of a tight spot. The machine was so effective that the contractor was able to complete sections of the project ahead of schedule.

    Two Tiny Titans

Highlights of the SY35U include a Yanmar 3TNV88-BDSA Tier 4 final engine, support for a range of hydraulic attachments, an enclosed air-conditioned cab to keep the operator comfortable no matter the conditions outside, load-sensing hydraulics capable of optimizing fuel efficiency and performance, and support for two-speed travel.

The SY16C is a smaller machine, but it comes equipped with a mighty Yanmar 3TNV74F Tier 4 final engine capable of producing 15 horsepower. This machine features an open cab design, readily accessible service points for easy maintenance, a short tail swing, and hydraulic attachment support. The SY16C has the same load-sensing hydraulics and two-speed travel found on the SY35U, as well as a hydraulically extendable undercarriage with adjustable front blade width.

Australian customers can see the SY16C and SY35U at next month’s 2018 National Diesel Dirt & Turf Expo, and those who’re looking to purchase at the show will enjoy a VIP discount, a gift package, and free maintenance service.
