Volvo Unveils New Equipment At INTERMAT 2018

    Posted On: May 18, 2018

Volvo CE, a leading global manufacturer of various types of construction machines, recently attended INTERMAT 2018 in Paris where it demonstrated several new and redesigned machines, including excavators, wheel loaders, pavers, and compactors.

    Stars Of The Show

Volvo CE showed off three new short swing radius compact excavators at the event, which excel at quiet operation, fuel efficiency, and low operating emissions. The ECR355ENL is a powerful crawler excavator, the EWR170E is a wheeled model, and the ECR18E is a compact model designed to get into those cramped corners that plague most construction sites

Another compact machine that grabbed headlines is the Volvo EX2, which is a fully electric excavator prototype that is capable of producing zero emissions and significantly better fuel efficiency at a fraction of the noise output. Volvo also expects this INTERMAT Innovation Award-winning machine to offer a considerably lower total cost of ownership compared to its conventional competitors.

    A Recycling & Demolition Demo

Volvo’s presence at INTERMAT also featured a large outdoor demolition and recycling zone, where the company exhibited some of the impressive safety features of the 303-horsepower EC380E excavator, which is currently available with an optional high-reach extension boom. The new EW240E MH material handler is another machine that attendees had a chance to see in action at INTERMAT 2018.

Other Volvo machines turning heads included the P6820D paver equipped with the new EPM3 electronic paver management system and Pave Assist, and the DD105 asphalt compactor, which features oscillating drums capable of producing uniform compaction results in fewer passes. At the show, Volvo also announced that it is bringing the L260H wheel loader to the European market and that the reliable L180H wheel loader ships with an all-new drivetrain.

    Volvo’s Smart Assistant

INTERMAT Paris also provided Volvo with the opportunity to double down on its commitment to equipping machines with its Co-Pilot real-time in-cab information platform. This represents Europe’s first glimpse at the Haul Assist (for articulated haulers) and Dig Assist (for excavators) Co-Pilot applications in action. These systems can come pre-installed from the factory, or can be retrofitted after the initial purchase.
