Komatsu To Open New Service Center In Elko, Nevada
Komatsu Equipment Company (KEC), a Komatsu America Corp. subsidiary, will build a new customer support and service center in Elko, Nevada. The $47 million facility will sit on 30 acres with the building’s footprint covering 189,000 square feet (57,600 square meters). It will consolidate employees from three other buildings into one, and Komatsu plans to finish the project by the beginning of 2020. KEC encourages fans of the brand to follow the process on its social media channels.
“The new building offers an exciting opportunity to bring together local employees of two major Komatsu subsidiaries: KEC and Komatsu Mining Corp. (KMC), into one integrated organization,” says John Pfisterer, president of Komatsu Equipment Company. “Collaborating directly in a shared, state-of-the-art space, these combined teams will enhance customer support and operational efficiency.”
Facility Highlights
KEC’s new center will have a full-service shop for maintaining construction equipment and performing mechanical rebuilds complete with six service bays. It will house a shop dedicated to fabricating and heavy welding applications for producing truck bodies, truck structures, and more. Another shop has access to a horizontal milling and boring machine and a vertical lathe. The facility will primarily focus its support efforts on customers in the western part of North America with an emphasis on mining and construction equipment. It will also feature a yard full of construction equipment and rental machines that’s accessible via Interstate 80.
