Vermeer RTX1250i2 Tractor Makes Setup, Utility Installation Easier
In case you missed it late last year, Vermeer’s new RTX1250i2 is a ride-on tractor for utility installation. It’s outfitted with automatic technologies, both standard and optional, to do the job right no matter the ground conditions. It’s powered by a quiet, smooth, 127-horsepower (95-kilowatt) Deutz diesel engine.
The new tractor is compatible with Vermeer’s smart i2 attachments. These automatically tell the RTX1250i2 their operational needs so the tractor’s controls work within those parameters. The company says you can swap out i2 attachments in as little as an hour. The list includes tires, tracks, trenchers, plows, backfill blades, and reel carriers.
Intelligent Features
Vermeer has equipped the new RTX1250i2 with several intelligent control technologies to help you do the job more efficiently. The Productivity Zone feature, for example, automatically sets the proper crawl speed and operating range for a rear attachment.
Next, the RTX1250i2’s Auto Plunge technology keeps engine rpm from dipping too much when you’re using a trencher or rockwheel attachment. TrenchSense, meanwhile, will temporarily stop the tractor’s forward motion if the trencher chain stops or the engine starts to stall.
Finally, EcoIdle saves fuel when you haven’t done anything with the tractor in the last 30 seconds. This engine control system drops the rpms to idle speed until you’re ready to go back to work.
Options
Among the options Vermeer offers for the RTX1250i2 is a self-leveling auto-tilt system, which adjusts the rear axle on slopes to help keep the trench you’re cutting vertical. Some other options are a climate-controlled cab and a remote control to help you load the tractor for transport.
The RTX1250i2 also is ready to use Vermeer Fleet telematics equipment, which can transmit the tractor’s engine hours, idle hours, fuel usage, fault codes, location, and geofencing capabilities. Vermeer plans to release a steel track edition of the tractor in 2019.
