South Korean manufacturer Doosan recently announced the availability of a new line of mast forklifts designed for greater maneuverability and higher visibility. The new 9-Series Internal Combustion Cushion Tire Forklift family is aimed at bottling, paper, boxcar, trucking, and warehouse applications.

Doosan highlights a quartet of lifts in the middle of the series: the GC18S-9 with 50.6 horsepower (37.7 kilowatts) and a 74-inch (1,890-millimeter) turning radius; the 59.7-horsepower (44.5-kilowatt) GC25S-9 with 81-inch (2,057-millimeter) minimum turns; the GC35S-9 at 70 horsepower (52.2 kilowatts) and a turning radius of 90.5 inches (2,298 millimeters); and the boxcar model GC35BCS-9 with the same power but a tighter 82.8-inch (2,102-millimeter) turning radius.

The company also briefly mentions models GC15S-9 and GC55C-9, and says that the new 9 Series provides lifting capacities ranging from 3,000 pounds (1,361 kilograms) to 12,000 pounds (5,443 kilograms).

    Features Of The 9

Doosan says that a compact drive axle is behind the improved maneuverability of the 9 Series, and claims that mast visibility is 20% better than earlier offerings. The company outfitted the lifts with new heavy-duty cooling systems and oil-cooled disc brakes, which along with extended service intervals should keep your operation humming with less downtime.

Operator comfort has been improved with 20% more leg room and 35% more knee space, Doosan says, as well as an adjustable steering column. LED lighting helps you see everything around you, while a new LCD system display has been designed to be easy to read.

Finally, there are safety features including a prominent emergency stop button and a reminder alert when you step down from the driver’s seat without engaging the parking brake (the Operator Sensing System, or OSS).

    By Customer & Dealer Request

"We are thrilled to expand our product line in the North American market,” says Doosan Industrial Vehicle America CEO Tony Jones. “Not only will [the 9 Series] be a great addition to our current offerings, but it will also solidify the partnership we share with our dealers. It's another example of our commitment to North America, to our dealers, and to our customers."
