Construction machinery manufacturer SANY has had a partnership with Chinese stainless steel producer Tsingshan Industry for the last five years.

Since March 2014, SANY has supplied iron ore mining equipment to Tsingshan for the Morowali Industrial Park project in Indonesia. In fact, almost all of the mining company’s equipment at the site has the SANY brand emblazoned on its side.

To date, Tsingshan has bought 455 excavators, 79 mobile cranes, and 31 crawler cranes from SANY, according to the latter. Tsingshan reportedly considers SANY a “one-stop service solution” for the project, including three SANY on-site service workers providing training and troubleshooting help as needed.

“We offered professional pre-sale service and after-sale service for Tsingshan Industry so that the enterprise can not only purchase suitable machines for their project, but also save a lot of time and money to maintain these machines,” says Jiang Haihui, a SANY overseas service engineer. “(With) our technical staff living near the project site, if these machines have any problem, our service engineers can give technical assistance.”

Tsingshan also has a fleet of SANY 500-ton, 250-ton, and 150-ton SANY cranes at the Morowali Industrial Park site. (Photo courtesy of SANY.)

Jiang says that SANY recommends certain products for iron ore mining because of their stability, durability, and cost-effectiveness, among other factors.

“SANY excavators SY365H, SY215C, and SY75C have powerful engines that generate faster digging speed and lower energy loss, ensuring that hard rocks can be easily dug or moved,” Jiang says. Also, “the 500-ton, 250-ton, and 150-ton cranes played an important role in plant building and material delivery at the project site.

“What’s more, truck-mounted concrete pumps and mixer trucks were used in the infrastructure construction of the project site, such as building roads, electric power plants, and workshops,” says Jiang. Tsingshan has purchased 42 cement mixer trucks, 12 truck-mounted concrete pumps, five roller compactors, and a lone paver from SANY over time.

    The SY365H is a 40-ton (36,000-kilogram) model with 284 horsepower (212 kilowatts) and a 2.1-cubic yard (1.6-cubic meter) bucket.

The 24.1-ton (21900-kilogram) SY215C, meanwhile, comes with Tier 3, Tier 4, and other engine options, and is also available in a long-reach configuration.

Finally, the 8-ton (7,280-kilogram) SY75C is also available with various motors, all in the 53.6- to 57.7-horsepower (40- to 43-kilowatt) range.
