New Ditch Witch JT24 Horizontal Drill Designed For Residential Jobsites
Ditch Witch’s new JT24 HDD (horizontal directional drill) is well-suited for wide range of urban and residential duties, such as fiber and utility installations. “We continue to evolve our directional drill offerings to provide more efficient and productive modern solutions to meet the growing underground challenges facing today’s HDD contractors,” says Cory Maker, Ditch Witch HDD product manager. “The JT24 was designed based on direct customer feedback, manufactured to effectively maneuver and traverse urban terrains where much of the utility and rehabilitation work is happening today.”
The Power To Get Work Done
Despite the JT24’s smaller footprint, Ditch Witch managed to equip the HDD with a 101-gross-horsepower, Tier 4- and European Stage V-compliant Cummins diesel engine. Operators can harness 24,000 pounds of thrust and pullback, and Ditch Witch has added a new hydraulic platform that’s said to maximize drilling efficiency and conserve horsepower downhole. To enhance jobsite productivity, the JT24 features a maximum carriage speed of 216 fpm (feet per minute), speed that should decrease cycle times and increase uptime. The JT24 can hold up to 400 feet of drill pipe onboard to allow for long bores.
View At ICUEE
Ditch Witch plans to showcase the JT24 and other new products at the ICUEE (International Construction and Utility Equipment Exposition) this week in Louisville, Kentucky. Some of the other demo products will include a next-generation ride-on trencher, a large stand-on skid steer, an economical vacuum exactor, and a new HDD tooling system. Taken as a whole, Ditch Witch indicates that the products, available for viewing at booth K145, are aimed at improving jobsite versatility, productivity, and profitability.
