Manitowoc will be showcasing five of its Grove cranes at the CONEXPO-CON/AGG show in Las Vegas, Nevada, this March 10 to 14. Of particular note are two new models—the Grove GRT8120 rough-terrain crane and a yet-to-be announced model—that will be on site alongside the recently released GRT9165 rough-terrain crane, GHC140 telescoping crawler crane, and TMS500-2 truck crane.

    Get To Know The GRT8120

Building upon the success of the 100-ton (90-metric-ton) GRT8100 rough-terrain crane, which is known for its greater reach and versatility, the Grove GRT8120 fills a need for customers in the 120-t (109-mt) range. The GRT8120 features a 197-foot (60-meter) main boom with 265-ft (81-m) max height when equipped with the 57.5-ft (17.5-m) bi-fold swingaway extension, available in either manual or hydraulically offsettable configurations. “We were able to accomplish this through an all-new carrier design along with several other new features debuting on this crane,” says John Bair, product manager for rough-terrain cranes at Manitowoc. “We’re happy to say that the 197-ft boom length and strong load charts put this crane at the top of its class.”

    Beyond Boom & Load Charts

A key versatility feature for the GRT8120 is the MAXbase asymmetrical outrigger system, which lets operators set outriggers and various configurations for easier access on narrow and rough-terrain sites. Manitowoc also touts the GRT8120’s full-vision cab with up to 20 degrees tilt for greater visibility, and says the relatively compact carrier design and flexible jobsite access make the GRT8120 ideal for petrochemical, construction, and wind power industries.
