Spanish rental company Exclusivas Rodriguez Espinosa SL got 12 years’ service from the Atlas Copco XAS 77 mobile air compressors in its fleet before deciding it was time for an update, despite the compressors still looking new and being operational. The rental company chose five XAS 88 compressors from Atlas Copco’s new 8 Series because the compressors met all the requirements its customers have concerning reliability, quickness to service, and easy towing, Espinosa says.

“When we wanted to update our fleet of XAS 77 compressors after 12 years of service, it was clear Atlas Copco has not stopped innovating,” says owner Andrés Espinosa. “The new 8 series XAS 88 compressor complied with all our requirements and went even beyond.”

    Easy Towing

Exclusivas Rodriguez Espinosa SL’s business is concentrated in part on refineries located near its Cadiz, Spain, base that need compressed air to clean tanks. Weighing less than 1,653.5 pounds (750 kilograms), the 8 Series compressors are towable behind vehicles light enough not to require a commercial driver’s license. The XAS 88 produces up to 176.6 cubic feet of air per minute (5 cubic meters per minute), uses a four-cylinder KUBOTA V 1505 T engine, and features Atlas Copco’s HardHat canopy first introduced in 2005.

The 8 Series also features a three-layer anti-corrosion paint system, single-sheet-constructed undercarriage and spill-free frame, starter motor protection system, adjustable and fixed tow bar options with and without brakes, support leg, jockey wheel, toolbox, LED lights, and more.

    Excellent Service

“Atlas Copco is not only offering the most advanced compressors in the market,” says Espinosa, “their service is fully from the cradle to the grave. We did not have to worry about our old equipment. Atlas Copco offered to take the old compressors back. Consequently, we could refresh our rental fleet with a good return on investment.”
