Wacker Neuson DW60 & DW90 Wheel Dumper Now Available With EU Stage V-Compliant Engine

Wacker Neuson has upgraded its largest articulated wheel dumpers, the DW60 and DW90, with a new EU Stage V/U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final emissions standards-compliant diesel engine and other enhancements.

“With the further development of our biggest dumper models, it was important for us to keep time-tested and proven features and add the newest features,” says Stefan Bogner of Wacker Neuson Linz GmbH. “This way, we’re able to offer our customers powerful and efficient machines with high safety standards for material transport—even on uneven terrain.”

Capabilities

Wacker Neuson’s DW60 wheel dumper can carry 13,228 pounds (6,000 kilograms) or 4.19 cubic yards (3.2 cubic meters) of heaped payload. It has a shipping weight of 10,886 lbs (4,938 kg). Its big brother, the DW90, is a 12,486-lb (5,664-kg) model. It has a 5.75-cu-yd (4.4-cu-m) heaped capacity and the ability to carry up to 19,842 pounds (9,000 kilograms) of material.

Both dumpers get their power from a 73.8-horsepower (55-kilowatt) turbo-diesel engine. An automatic ECO mode saves fuel with a lower idle speed and other tactics. In addition, the dumpers’ engines and headlights turn off after a period of inactivity. Also, their spring-loaded parking brake automatically engages when their engines shut down.

A hydrostatic four-wheel drive provides the Wacker Neuson dumpers with smooth, easy acceleration and deceleration. Their brake lights turn on automatically when the operator takes a foot off the gas pedal and the hydrostatic drive starts to slow down the machine. The DW60 and DW90 can travel at up to 15.5 mph (25 km/h).

A front tip skip comes standard on the two dumpers. The DW60 has the option of using a swivel tip skip with a 180-degree turning capability. The swiveling skip can be filled with material from the side.

In Control

Wacker Neuson offers the DW60 and DW90 with or without a rollover protection system (ROPS) and falling object protection system (FOPS) Level 2 cab with laminated safety glass in the front. The operator can run either machine with one hand on the steering wheel and the other on the multifunction joystick, the manufacturer says. When reversing, a new broadband alarm produces a multifrequency sound that is easier for others on the jobsite to hear.

The operator’s station features a 7-inch color display for machine status and control. Front and rear LED work lights provide external illumination when necessary. Air conditioning is available as an option on models with a cabin.

The DW60 and DW90 also feature skip grating, which protects the driver from falling material during loading or traveling. A green rotating beacon lights up when the driver is using the optional, externally visible seat belt.
