Doosan Offers Trimble Earthworks 2D Grade Control Platform Pre-Installed On Crawler Excavators
Doosan Infracore North America has teamed up with Trimble to offer 2D machine grade control as a factory option for its crawler excavators in the North American market. The Trimble Earthworks Grade Control Platform for Excavators is designed to make grading flat or sloped surfaces faster, easier, and more accurate. Doosan says excavators with the new factory-installed option are available now.
“We’re excited to partner with Trimble because it will help expand our Doosan excavator technology offerings and boost our customers’ productivity,” says Doosan Director of Product Management Jaeuk Kim. “Doosan crawler excavator customers can enhance their trenching accuracy with the increased technology, contributing to an improved ROI. And our dealers can now offer this directly from the factory to our customers.”
Automated Grade Control
The Trimble 2D grade control system includes rugged hardware and a 10-inch, in-cab Android tablet display running the Trimble Earthworks software. When the app is set to autos (automatics) mode, the operator controls the excavator’s stick while Trimble Earthworks controls the boom and bucket to stay on grade. This automation reduces overcut and increases productivity, speeding up the process.
Trimble Earthworks helps operators of all skill levels grade trenches, embankments, ditches, and slopes consistently and accurately. The 2D system can even be upgraded to 3D grade control through a Doosan dealer and a SITECH (Trimble) dealer.
