Rokbak is the new brand name for Terex Trucks, meant to evoke a sense of reliability. Terex Trucks has been part of the Volvo Group since 2014.

The Scotland-based manufacturer’s pair of off-highway dump trucks, the TA300 and TA400, have evolved into the RA30 and RA40 models with similar specifications. Like their predecessors, the rugged yet fuel-efficient trucks are ready for use in quarries, mines, infrastructure projects, and commercial construction.

    Built To Work

The RA40 articulated hauler has a Scania D13 engine with 444 gross horsepower (331 kilowatts) and up to 1,641 pounds-foot (2,225 newton-meters) of torque. Its U.S. Tier 4 Final version differs slightly in weight from its EU Stage V configuration, but both of them use diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) as part of their exhaust aftertreatment systems.

The RA40 can carry a 41.9-ton (38-metric-ton) payload, and it has a heaped capacity of 30.3 cubic yards (23 cubic meters). It features extended service intervals of up to 4,000 hours between hydraulic fluid changes and 6,000 hours for fluid changes for its adaptive shifting planetary gear transmission.

The smaller RA30 can haul up to 30.9 t (28 mt) and has a heaped capacity of 22.9 cu y (17.5 cu m). Its Scania DC9 diesel engine produces 370 HP (276 kW) and 1,387 lbf-ft (1,880 N-m) of torque. An independent front suspension comes standard on the truck to keep it controllable on uneven ground and slopes.

    Common Features

Both the RA40 and RA30 come with a balanced drivetrain and fully enclosed oil-cooled multi-disc brakes. Transmission retarders and exhaust brakes help the operator retain control over the truck while sparing the primary brake pads.

Rokbak’s Haul Track telematics system provides GPS and location tracking as well as truck usage data that can help equipment managers plan for scheduled maintenance. An electronically raised hood, a fully tilting cab, and testing points at ground level speed up service time so the trucks can get back to work. Haul Track can also generate downloadable, daily performance reports on items such as machine hours, idle time, error codes, engine speed, and more.
