Previewed at MINExpo 2021 in Las Vegas in September, the new Caterpillar D11 XE dozer combines more than 20 years of Cat electric drive experience and field data to deliver constant power to the ground for faster cycle times and improved fuel efficiency. It offers the lowest cost per ton operation in dozing applications. Currently a prototype, once it reaches production, the D11 XE will be the largest, most powerful, and most efficient electric drive dozer with high drive in the world, says Cat. The dozer is currently working at Caterpillar’s dozer proving grounds in Peoria, Illinois, and will complete extensive field validation before entering full production.

    About The D11 XE

The D11 XE targets fuel cost reductions of as much as 25% per bank cubic meters (BCM) and 20% longer engine rebuild cycles than mechanical drive models with 60% fewer moving parts, which translates to less downtime. The dozer makes use of Cat powertrain, electronics, software, and controls to optimize performance and cut down on component damage. The dozer offers full support for Cat technologies such as MineStar Command, which allows remote-controlled dozing and semiautonomous dozing.

    Simplified Maintenance

The D11 XE has a modular design that simplifies maintenance. It also has fewer moving parts, which means fewer touches, lower service costs, and longer rebuild intervals. The electric drive dozer shares components with Cat’s mechanical drive models, so service technicians will already be familiar with them and owners will have fewer parts to stock. The cumulative effect of these design advantages combined with lower fuel consumption translates directly to the lowest cost per BCM of material moved.
