Hyster says that its new flagship A Series counterbalance forklifts are highly configurable and built for operator comfort. The manufacturer designed the lift trucks for high visibility, fuel economy, easy service, high productivity, low cost of ownership, and maximum uptime, it says.

The new Hyster H2.0 to H3.5A are internal combustion models with 2.2- to 3.9-ton (2- to 3.5-metric-ton) lift capacities. The pneumatic-tire mast forklifts replace the 2.2- to 3.9-t Fortens and XT lift trucks in Hyster’s product lineup.

    A+ Logic

“With the Hyster A Series, instead of providing you with options for a truck we already built, we build the truck you need according to your duty cycle, environment, and tasks,” says Hyster VP Marketing and Solutions EMEA, Robert O’Donoghue. “Hyster has revolutionised its manufacturing process to deliver the tough, high-quality lift trucks that you expect, built around the particular needs of the intended application and the operator.”

Hyster calls the new A Series’ scalable, adjustable feature set “A+ Logic.” The manufacturer aims to give customers the features they need without making them pay for features they don’t.

    Operator-Centric Design

“Operator confidence and comfort are tremendously important as they help to enhance productivity,” O’Donoghue says. “That’s why the new A Series lift trucks feature operator-centric design to support proper ergonomics and high performance.”

Hyster designed the A Series with an emphasis on easy entry to and exit from its roomy operator station. Hyster facilitated visibility in all directions, including upwards through the laminated glass roof.

Available operator assistance systems include a laser fork level indicator, object and proximity detection, load weighing, and a rearview camera. The Dynamic Stability System option includes adjustable speed and motion limits when the load is raised past a threshold height or the forklift is turning a corner. The A Series come “telematics ready” with preinstalled hardware for the Hyster Tracker fleet management system.

    The Hyster A Series

The new A Series has five initial models, namely the H2.0A, H2.5A, H2.5A6, H3.0A, and H3.5A, spanning 4,400- to 7,700-pound (2,000- to 3,500-kilogram) load capacities. Their lift heights vary from 318 to 337 inches (8,070 to 8,550 millimetres) and their load centres range from 19.7 to 23.6 in. (500 to 600 mm). The lifts have turning radii from 86.3 to 96.4 in. (2,191 to 2,449 mm) and overall weights between 7,965 and 10,825 lbs (3,613 and 4,910 kg).

Hyster says the A Series forklifts have a wider gap between the masts, hence better visibility on the centre of the load, than competing 2.8-t (2.5-mt) models from Toyota or Linde. They’re available in diesel and LPG versions, all of which are powered by a four-cylinder, 2.1-liter (diesel) or 2.2-L (LPG) Yanmar engine, and motivated by a Powershift one-speed or DuraMatch transmission.
