Komatsu has announced its plans for the ConExpo construction trade show slated for March 14 to 18 in Las Vegas. The company will showcase connected technologies—Smart Construction, Smart Quarry, and intelligent Machine Control (iMC) 2.0—that foster predictability, productivity, and efficiency on the work site. Komatsu will also display several machines tricked out with iMC 2.0 technologies, specifically its PC360LCi-11 excavator, as well as its D39PXi-24, D51PXi-25, and D71PXi-24 dozers.

    Visualization & Optimization

Komatsu’s Smart Construction products combine machine automation features with advanced sharing of real-time data. The manufacturer says the suite of Smart Construction technologies (currently Dashboard, Design, Drone, Field, Fleet, Office, Remote, and Retrofit) can improve decision making and reduce wasted time and work.

Komatsu’s iMC 2.0 machine automation technologies work in conjunction with Smart Construction products to help even less-experienced operators cut or dig to grade more efficiently. This de facto upgrade in operator skill level is aided by iMC 2.0’s improvements to the design of each jobsite.

Finally, Smart Quarry solutions monitor production and gather data on site operations to help customers find ways to optimize efficiency.

    iMC 2.0 Machinery On Display

The PC360LCi-11 excavator from Komatsu is a 257-horsepower (192-kilowatt) digger with an operating weight ranging from 78,645 to 80,547 pounds (35,673 to 36,536 kilograms). It can utilize buckets with capacities from 0.89 to 2.56 cubic yards (0.68 to 1.96 cubic meters) of capacity.

Among the dozers Komatsu is bringing to ConExpo, the 22,774-lb (10,330-kg) D39PXi-24 can push a 2.89-cu yd (2.2-cu m) blade with the thrust of its 105-HP (78-kW) engine. The D71PXi-24 dozer is in a higher weight class with a 51,147-lb (23,200-kg) operating weight and 237 HP (177 kW). Its blade capacity is an impressive 6.1 cu yds (4.7 cu m).
