Terramac To Show Versatile RT7R, RT14R, RT6 & RT9U Crawler Carriers At ConExpo

Illinois manufacturer Terramac recently announced plans to bring four of its crawler carriers to the ConExpo-Con/Agg convention being held March 14th to 19th in Las Vegas, Nevada. The quartet of carriers includes two of Terramac’s 360-degree rotating frame models and two of its latest customized straight-frame units.

Track Stars

The rubber tracks on a Terramac chassis provide traction, gradeability, and flotation on soft terrain with less impact on the environment than wheeled carriers, the company says. Terramac tailors its diesel-powered carriers for customers in the construction, utility, energy, mining, waste management, forestry, and other industries.

“This year’s Terramac exhibit is the largest space we have had at a ConExpo to showcase our crawler carrier models,” says Terramac VP, Business Development, Matt Slater. “We carefully selected each model on exhibit to demonstrate how a single carrier can be used for very different construction applications across a wide range of industries. We want attendees to see a few of the many ways a Terramac machine can be outfitted for their specific needs.”

Rotating Carriers

Terramac’s crawlers with rotating upper structures can offload materials in any direction without having to disturb the ground by turning on their tracks. Their 360-degree rotation also allows the operator to always face forward in the cab to minimize fatigue. The carriers can be equipped with dump beds, rock beds, flat beds, spray booms, and many other attachments.

The RT7R can carry loads of up to 7 tons (6.35 metric tons), yet fully loaded it exerts a ground pressure of only 5.5 pounds per square inch (0.39 kilograms per square centimeter). It’s powered by a 165-horsepower (123-kilowatt) Cummins B4.5 engine that complies with US Tier 4 Final and EU Stage V emissions standards.

Terramac’s larger RT14R has a 14-t (12.7-mt) carrying capacity. Its ground pressure of just 8.3 psi (0.58 kg/c2) fully loaded leaves a minimal footprint on the terrain, the manufacturer says. The RT14R has a 320-HP (239-kW) Cummins QSL9 engine.

Straight-Frame Carriers

The RT6 straight crawler Terramac is bringing to ConExpo is equipped with a debris collection system with a suction boom to collect loose garbage from fence lines and roadsides. The carrier also has a skid mount and a hooklift to change beds and support equipment for other applications. For example, Terramac offers a conversion bed with fold-down sides for its straight carrier models. The RT6 has a 155-HP (116-kW) Cummins B4.5 engine, a 6-t (5.4 mt) carrying capacity, and a loaded ground pressure rating of 5.3 psi (0.38 kg/c2).

The fourth machine to see at Terramac’s ConExpo booth will be an RT9U with a Versalift 9500 bucket lift for powerline work. The RT9U can carry up to 11.8 t (10.7 mt), exerts 6.4 psi (0.45 kg/c2) of ground pressure, and uses a 255-HP (190-kW) Cummins QSB 6.7-litre engine.
