French construction equipment manufacturer Mecalac has expanded its range of 100% electric, midsize construction machines with the arrival of the eS1000 Swing Loader. Based on the company’s diesel AS1000 loader, the eS1000 employs an electric motor that receives power from a 75-kilowatt-hour battery.

    A United Zero-Emissions Effort

The eS1000 joins the 12.1-ton (11-metric-ton) e12 excavator and 6.6-t (6-mt) ed6 dumper in Mecalac’s electric equipment line. Used together, the machines can carry out the three basics of earthmoving—digging, loading, and transporting—while producing zero emissions. Plus, they work at a scale that surpasses that of compact electric machines.

    Benefits Of Electric

Mecalac says using the eS1000 and its electric companions on the same urban construction site can save an average of 70.5 t (64 mt) of carbon dioxide annually compared to diesel equivalents.

Using the electric versions lowers maintenance and refueling costs and reduces vibration and jobsite noise. These attributes make the machines well-suited for working indoors and in urban and residential neighborhoods.

Operators can expect outstanding stability in all positions on any terrain from the eS1000, which has a boom that can swing 180 degrees, even with the wheels fully turned. (Image courtesy of Mecalac.)

The eS1000 makes optimal use of its battery power, resulting in 8 hours of use per charge, according to Mecalac.

The boom allows for a full, 180-degree swing from full left to full right, independent of the orientation of the front wheels. Mecalac says this design means less maneuvering is required to execute tasks, which pays off on jobsites with limited working space.

The manufacturer also says that with the rear axle locked, the eS1000 can turn 180 degrees with the 1.2-cubic-yard (1-cu-meter) bucket loaded without any loss in stability, even with the wheels fully turned. The eS1000 can lift its maximum load to 11.4 feet (3.5 m).
