Mack Brings Ergonomic Seats To LR Model Trucks
It used to be, when truck manufacturers were designing features for their vehicles, that the focus was primarily on vehicle performance. You wanted to have the most powerful vehicle out there on the road, but also one that could give you solid fuel efficiency. Driver comfort took a—well, a back seat. Today, more and more truck manufacturers are focusing on driver comfort, which is evident with the recent Mack Trucks announcement that it’s bringing multi-position, ergonomically designed seats to its Mack LR truck model.
Comfort Meets Safety
It’s no great secret that sitting in and driving a truck for long periods of time can be hard on your back, not to mention the rest of your body, which is why ergonomic seats like this one from Mack Trucks, in cooperation with Sears Seating, is so important. Whether you operate an LR truck in a sit-down configuration or in a right-hand stand-up position, this seat is meant to keep drivers in healthier and safer positions while operating trucks so they can be more productive and comfortable.
Fully Adjustable
The seat itself is also highly customizable, which is a hallmark of ergonomic design. No two drivers will ever be exactly the same, and so that’s why Mack made sure both the seat base and the seat back are fully adjustable. This not only makes it so that driver is in a more comfortable seating/standing position, but also that they have access to every control they need to get their job done efficiently and effectively.
A Long Line Of Innovation
The new ergonomic seat in the Mack LR, which will be available beginning in the first quarter of 2018, is just another step on an innovation ladder that the company has been extending over the last few years. The LR itself comes in a 6x4 or 4x2 configuration and sports an 11-liter MP 7 diesel engine with up to 1,260 lb.-ft. torque and 355 horsepower. It’s built with the refuse industry in mind, which is why every new iteration aims to make it the perfect waste collection vehicle.
