Mack is showcasing its refuse lineup this week at WasteExpo 2018, and most notably, attendees have the chance to look over a few configurations of the Mack LR. The most recent addition to the company’s offerings in the refuse and recycling truck segment, the LR comes equipped with either diesel or natural gas engines and is available in a 6x4 configuration or a lighter, more maneuverable 4x2 configuration. Other Mack refuse trucks at WasteExpo 2018 include a Granite Axle Back with a Galbreath rail hoist and the TerraPro with a McNeilus Atlantic front loader.

    Loaded With Features For Drivers

The LR boasts a new multi-positional seat developed exclusively for Mack by Sears Seating; Mack says the seat delivers both improved comfort and ergonomics for drivers. Mack also engineers the LR with a large front windshield and rear wraparound window to increase a driver’s field of vision for safer operation. At WasteExpo 2018, Mack is showing off LR models with a Labrie Automizer side loader, a Heil Half/Pack front loader, and a Heil Half/Pack Odyssey front loader.

    Mack Telematics Hardware & Software

Refuse vehicles equipped with 2017 or newer Mack engines support the company’s OTA (Over The Air) service that enables software updates for powertrain components as well as vehicle operation parameters such as road speed limits. OTA is powered by Mack’s telematics solution, GuardDog Connect. With the telematics service enabled, the truck will actively monitor truck performance and offer real-time diagnosis of maintenance and performance issues; owners and operators can take advantage of GuardDog Connect to avoid downtime. Mack OTA is available on the LR, Granite, and TerraPro models being shown at WasteExpo 2018.
