Cargobull Debuts Hybrid Refrigeration Units On Utility Trailer 3000R
Cargobull North America (CBNA) recently debuted a new hybrid transport refrigeration unit (TRU) at the TMC Annual 2024, the American Trucking Association’s Technology & Maintenance Council meeting and exhibition. The CBNA TRUs are available exclusively on Utility Trailer’s 3000R reefer trailer.
“After 110 years, and now under the fourth and fifth generations of continuous Bennett family leadership, it’s incredibly exciting for Utility Trailer to continue pushing the envelope of technological innovation, sustainability, and efficiency,” says Utility Chief of Sales Mark Glasgow. “The positive response since unveiling CBNA TRUs last September has been overwhelming. Our dealers and their customers have eagerly awaited the opportunity to get their hands on these latest and greatest TRU offerings.”
Cargobull TRU Configurations
CBNA currently offers two TRU models, the 625 Hybrid Mono-Temp and the 655MT Hybrid Multi-Temp, each of which meet California’s 2030 emissions standards without the need of a diesel particulate filter (DPF) or exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve and comply with the California Air Resources Board (CARB)’s ultra-low emissions TRU (ULETRU) regulations. The TRUs reduce fuel consumption by as much as 20% and, in some cases, eliminate emissions. Cargobull says fully electric TRUs will be available later.
The TRU is powered by a low-noise, high-torque Hatz industrial diesel engine with fuel-sipping common rail injection. The hybrid powertrain couples the diesel engine directly with the generator to operate reliably without drive belt or clutch maintenance. The fully embedded shore power eliminates local diesel emissions.
Stay Connected
Fleet operators can track the performance of the TRUs with advanced telematics data through the Utility TrailerConnect portal and app. Utility TrailerConnect provides info such as temperature monitoring and control, battery and fuel status, tire pressure monitoring, geolocation, door alarms and controls, and more. Utility’s 3000R trailers with TRUs are available throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
